We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Hillingdon that has a specialist ASD unit. This role will involve supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) both in the mainstream classroom and within the unit, ensuring they can fully engage with their learning and social development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to children with ASD, either 1:1 or in small groups, in both the mainstream and specialist settings.
  • Work alongside class teachers and SEND staff to adapt lessons and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and promote positive social interactions.
  • Assist with daily routines, sensory activities, and interventions designed to support the development of children with ASD.
  • Monitor and report on progress, working closely with the SEND team to identify and address challenges.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students.

Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience supporting children with ASD, preferably in a primary school or specialist setting.
  • Knowledge of autism-friendly strategies, sensory needs, and behaviour management approaches.
  • A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and external professionals.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential).
  • A genuine passion for helping children with SEND achieve their full potential.
