Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join our committed team. The ideal candidate will inspire students with an interest in food science, nutrition, and culinary skills, fostering creativity and a deep understanding of healthy living.

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, ensuring that students develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge in food technology, from KS3 to KS4. You will also be expected to contribute to the wider curriculum, school events, and extra-curricular activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Food Technology, following the national curriculum and the school's educational ethos.
  • Engage students through practical cooking lessons and food science demonstrations.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress regularly.
  • Manage resources, including kitchens and equipment, ensuring health and safety standards are met.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies and support the overall development of the Technology Department.
  • Encourage a positive learning environment that fosters student enthusiasm for the subject.
  • Support students in preparing for exams, including coursework and assessments at GCSE level.
  • Promote the importance of nutrition, health, and sustainable food practices.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A degree in Food Technology, Home Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary school level is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of the food curriculum, nutrition, and food safety practices.
  • Excellent classroom management skills with a commitment to creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents.
  • A passion for food education and a commitment to the values and ethos of GNSA.
