A Senior Legal Counsel with expertise in insurance law is required to join a personal lines insurance company on a permanent basis.

The successful Senior Legal Counsel will be able to benefit from flexible working arrangements and can be based out of offices in the South or in the North. This role could also be worked on a remote basis should the candidate wish making this opportunity one not to be missed!

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be joining a close-knit legal team that works seamlessly with the organisation as a whole. The successful Senior Legal Counsel will ideally have extensive experience working within insurance law either from Private Practice or working in-house. The Senior Legal Counsel will provide advice across the Group with regards to Insurance Distribution and legal support.

You will be joining a small team that has strong working relationships across its internal stakeholders. There are also strong career progression opportunities within the business.

As a Senior Legal Counsel, your role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Advising on delegated insurance arrangements and distribution deals
  • Working closely with key business stakeholders including Underwriting, Finance, Tax and Claims teams.
  • Draft a wide variety of insurance-based agreements (both regulated and non-regulated).
  • Draft insurance policy wordings for motor and ancillary policies.
  • Primarily responsible for and managing the progress of and provision of advice in respect of challenges from regulatory or quasi-regulator bodies such as HMRC and any non-UK financial services regulatory body.

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will have experience in:

  • Solid understanding of risk management technique
  • Working knowledge of Insurance Law
  • Experience of Insurance Distribution
  • Strong drafting and negotiating skills
