Warehouse Assistant 

£23,000 - £26,000 per annum 

Monday - Friday 9 am 5 pm 

I am currently representing a successful and growing distribution company who are looking to grow their fast-paced production team. This position is ideal for a proactive individual with a strong desire to learn. Whether you are at the beginning of your career and eager to join a company that will invest in your development through ongoing training, or you have prior warehouse experience and are looking to further develop your skills, this position could be suitable for you. 

Key Duties: 

  • Show dedication to the companies' mission and goals, clearly articulating how your role supports team objectives and overall company aims
  • Possess a thorough understanding of products, departments, processes, and customer base
  • Utilise standard transportation documentation, such as pick lists, packing lists, consignment notes, and delivery notes, effectively
  • Have a solid grasp of the primary transportation methods in logistics, including road, air, and sea.
  • Be knowledgeable about various inventory categories, including raw materials, opening stock, work in progress (WIP), finished goods, and safety stocks
  • Ensure accurate picking and proper packing of domestic and export consignments (ranging from small cartons to pallets), adhering to packaging guidelines
  • Handle the booking and inspection of domestic consignments (from small cartons to pallets)
  • Conduct peer reviews of picks as needed
  • Apply inventory management techniques, reorder quantities, reorder levels, and just-in-time (JIT) principles.
  • Maintain high inventory accuracy through regular cycle counting and reporting any discrepancies to senior colleagues
  • Oversee product lifecycle management, including monitoring shelf-life items and ensuring expiration dates are effectively tracked
  • Understand warehouse layout and configuration, including specific locations
  • Efficiently use procurement and supply documentation
  • Assist with receiving goods, verifying that items and quantities match delivery notes, inspecting for damage, quarantining as necessary, labelling inbound stock correctly, and accurately recording receipts in the ERP system
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines and quality procedures, utilising ISO forms as required
  • Help maintain a clean and organised warehouse through scheduled housekeeping activities
