The Stanhope Arms is a beautiful traditional village pub, nestled in the stunning village of Stanton-By-Dale between Nottingham and Derby, we are seeking a passionate Sous Chef to contribute to the growth of our business. Supporting and deputizing for the Head Chef the ideal Candidate will have a passion for fresh food & have experience a working in a busy kitchen whilst delivering food to the highest standard, have a high attention to detail, financial acumen and must be a team player.

Duties

  • Assist the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, including menu planning and food preparation.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring that all team members adhere to food safety regulations and culinary standards.
  • Prepare and cook high-quality dishes while maintaining consistency in presentation and taste.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels to minimise waste.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new recipes and improve existing ones.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss menu changes, special events, and kitchen performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on food production and preparation.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership abilities with experience in team management.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
