The Stanhope Arms is a beautiful traditional village pub, nestled in the stunning village of Stanton-By-Dale between Nottingham and Derby, we are seeking a passionate Sous Chef to contribute to the growth of our business. Supporting and deputizing for the Head Chef the ideal Candidate will have a passion for fresh food & have experience a working in a busy kitchen whilst delivering food to the highest standard, have a high attention to detail, financial acumen and must be a team player.
Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, including menu planning and food preparation.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring that all team members adhere to food safety regulations and culinary standards.
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes while maintaining consistency in presentation and taste.
- Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels to minimise waste.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new recipes and improve existing ones.
- Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, equipment, and storage areas.
- Participate in staff meetings to discuss menu changes, special events, and kitchen performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
- Strong culinary skills with a focus on food production and preparation.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent leadership abilities with experience in team management.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate teamwork within the kitchen.
