MB492: Operations Instructor (Officer of the Watch)Location: Faslane, ScotlandSalary: £42,000 - £45,000Working Hours: Monday to FridayAdditional Company Benefits: Exceptional Career Development Opportunities, Enhanced Pension ContributionsOverview:First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic International Defence business who are looking to recruit an Operations Instructor (Officer of the Watch) on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Faslane (Scotland) depot.As an Astute Class Ship Control Training (SCT), Operations Instructor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll deliver Ship Control training, provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) input into the analysis and solution development for technical change to the existing product and to provide SME advice in support to Marine Training’s projects. Day to day, you’ll provide training to students with a wide range of experience, predominantly within Ship Control Training discipline but also to provide assistance with generic training, liaise with the Training Design team and provide support for the routine review and amendment of SCT and operations courseware, and conduct all administration and reporting activities associated with the delivery of training to contractual requirement and as otherwise directed by the management team. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable to the Operations Manager: provide training to students with a wide range of experience, predominantly within SCT discipline but also to provide assistance with generic training, for example Astute Class Familiarisation. All training is to be delivered to prescribed standards and within contractual requirements.
  • Provide training to students with a wide range of experience, external to the ACTS contract. Training is to be delivered to prescribed standards, quality and cost.
  • Courseware maintenance: liaise with the Training Design (TD) team and provide SME support for the routine review and amendment of SCT ,OPS or SMQ or courseware.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert support to the review and evaluation of technical data/notifications of change, identifying the impact of change on existing courseware.
  • Liaison with the TD team to implement required change

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and recent experience of operating Submarine Ship Control systems.
  • Experience of Submarine Control Room management.
  • Previous experience of training delivery (desirable).
  • Recent sea experience on Astute class submarines (desirable).
  • DTc/ DTTT qualification (desirable).
