Based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, our global client seeks a Company Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis, based 5 days a week in the office.

This job would suit a part or fully qualified accountant with at least 3 years' practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques, including accruals and prepayments. A fantastic opportunity to play a key, hands-on role in the development and maintenance of financial controls, processes and systems and ensure that these are in line with statutory requirements.

The company is a well-established business that specialises in delivering specialised and rewarding projects to some fantastic industries, with exciting growth plans over next 12 months. A great opportunity to work closely with the MD and see the impact you can deliver to the business.

The successful individual will have an understanding of fixed assets and depreciation, with strong knowledge of CIS and VAT. They must have excellent client facing and internal communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Experience in Microsoft Office 365 and Xero is essential.

Job responsibilities:

  • Support the external accountant in preparing management accounts and year-end financial statements.
  • Prepare and submit annual VAT and CIS returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee bookkeeping in Xero, including bank reconciliations, invoice management, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Assist the external accountant and Managing Director in budgeting, monitoring actual vs. budget performance, and ensuring financial targets are maintained throughout the year.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls.
  • Manage cash flow between the company, suppliers, and clients, enforcing financial policies to ensure timely payments and support revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to assess and evaluate the company's financial options.
