Salary/Rate:Up to 350 per day via Ltd Company or PAYE Umbrella, dependent on skills and experience. This role has been deemed to be outside IR35 if necessary, if it passes the IR35 assessment, this will be assessed for each candidate.

We are currently in the process of hiring a skilled and experienced CSA Construction Manager to lead the construction phase of a large-scale data centre in Hemel Hempstead. The successful Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the construction process, ensuring the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

The work packages you will be responsible for in this role are:

  • CSA
  • Steelwork construction of gantry
  • Plasterboard walls
  • SFS wall system
  • Ceilings
  • Metal doors
  • Cladding alterations
  • Passive
  • Builder work holes

You will be working and leading a team of:

  • Site managers (2)
  • Site Supervisors (4)
  • H&S Manager
  • Logistics Manager
  • Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Quality Assurance Manager.
As a CSA Construction Manager, your primary roles and responsibilities will include:
  • Project Leadership & Strategy:
Lead the planning and execution of the construction phase, translating project plans into actionable steps. Develop strategies to ensure the project meets its deadlines, budget, and quality goals.
  • Team Management:
Oversee and coordinate the work of all site personnel, including subcontractors, site supervisors, and labourers. Ensure that each team member understands their role and works efficiently towards project objectives.
  • Budget & Cost Control:
Manage the project budget, including forecasting, tracking expenses, and ensuring all work is completed within financial constraints. Identify and address any potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.
  • Schedule Management:
Develop and maintain a detailed construction schedule, ensuring all phases of the project are completed on time. Proactively address any delays or changes to the timeline, minimising impacts on the project.
  • Health & Safety Compliance:
Enforce strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations across the site. Conduct regular safety inspections, ensure the use of proper safety equipment, and address any safety concerns immediately. Regular meetings with the in-house H&S manager and client-side representatives.
  • Quality Control:
Monitor all construction activities to ensure they meet the required quality standards and specifications. Implement quality assurance processes and resolve any issues that arise.
Regular meetings with the management team to assess progress and the QA system.
  • Communication:
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and others. Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and any necessary changes to the scope or schedule. Issuing a weekly report to the client and programme updates.
  • Risk Management:
Identify potential risks to the project and develop mitigation strategies to minimise their impact. Ensure that all site activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Material & Resource Management:
Oversee the procurement, delivery, and storage of materials, ensuring that all resources are available when needed and used efficiently.
  • Final Handover & Documentation:
Lead the final inspection and handover process, ensuring all work is completed to the client's satisfaction and that all necessary documentation, including as-built drawings and O&Ms, is provided.

Essential Criteria:
  • 3+ years of construction site supervision or professional construction experience.
  • Strong, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • CSCS Management level 6/7
  • SMSTS or equivalent Construction Health & Safety Certificate.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams and multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • An excellent eye and attention to detail.
  • Excellent understanding of construction processes, plans, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings
  • Must live within a commutable distance of Hemel Hempstead.
