Managing Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing Refurbishment / Planned Maintenance£75K - £90K +BenefitsHemel Hempstead

We are working with a leading social housing/property services business to recruit a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their planned works team. Following several contract wins and a strong order book, we seek a qualified and competent commercial leader with solid experience working on planned maintenance contracts, including kitchen and bathroom schemes, passive fire/FRA, decarbonisation works, electrical remediation, legal/disrepair and voids.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day commercial management and reporting of contracts from award up to final account. This includes the development and guidance of junior members of the commercial team, ensuring they understand and follow company processes and procedures.

Managing Quantity Surveyor Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to the pre-construction team in the settlement of tender submissions, including risk analysis, and agreeing tender strategy.
  • Ensuring that all new projects are set-up in line with the companies processes and aligned with the requirements of the contract.
  • Oversee the procurement process, ensuring that all sub-contractors and suppliers are sourced effectively, and contracts are awarded in line with company and project requirements.
  • Sub-contractor management, monitor sub-contractor workloads across the business and assist with introducing new sub-contractors.
  • Signing off sub-contractor payment notices, ensuring their accounts have been valued in line with the requirements of their sub-contract order.
  • Provide monthly commercial reports to Commercial Director detailing the commercial performance of each project and highlighting any risks.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks associated with projects. Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
  • Undertake detailed internal and external cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure applications and final accounts are being issued in line with the contract requirements and that WIP is kept to a minimal.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial matters.
  • Review and issuing of monthly CVR's to Commercial Director

Managing Quantity Surveyor Key Skills:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management
  • Previous experience of working for a social housing contractor
  • Experience of contract law
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel knowledge
