Field Service Engineer

Throughout your role you will be collaborating with the Service Manager and liaising with Service Controllers to service and repair a variety of equipment at customer sites. This includes forklifts, warehouse equipment, and mobile elevating work platforms.

Field Service Engineer Responsibilities

  • Repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
  • Repair hydraulic valves and rams.
  • Repair final drive and gearbox components.
  • Repair engines and related components.
  • Inspect equipment and provide customers with repair quotes, working closely with the Service Manager.
  • Service LPG, diesel, and electric-powered equipment to a high standard, with a focus on preventative maintenance.
  • Replace oil, filters, and other necessary components.
  • Perform partial or full strip-downs of LPG, diesel, or electric equipment.
  • Check the voltages and gravities of traction batteries using meters and hydrometers.
  • Complete and report on battery surveys as required.
  • Liaise with the Service Manager and Parts Controller as necessary.

Field Service Engineer Requirements:

  • City and Guilds or BTEC qualification in a relevant field within the materials handling industry, or a similar qualification, or relevant experience in the materials handling or similar industries.
  • Strong customer-facing skills.
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical engineering, particularly in heavy goods, plant machinery, or automotive sectors.
  • Possession of a valid UK driving licence.
  • If applicable, must hold a valid permit to work in the UK.
  • Ability to work unsupervised when required
