Maintenance Technician
Location: Home Based (Regular site visits to Hemel, Kingsbury, Thames, Slough)
This is a fantastic opportunity for and experienced Mechanical Technician toensure the integrity of mechanical systems by complying with company and statutory requirements and responding to breakdowns. Oversee and develop a system to implement and record maintenance and inspections of plant and equipment at designated locations. Perform additional maintenance and operational tasks on COMAH Top Tier and Lower Tier storage terminals and pipeline systems
What You'll Be Doing:
Ensure the integrity of mechanical systems by adhering to company and statutory requirements while promptly addressing breakdowns. Oversee and enhance a system for implementing and recording maintenance and inspections of plant and equipment at designated locations. Perform additional maintenance and operational tasks on COMAH Top Tier and Lower Tier storage terminals and pipeline systems
Attain and maintain competency to be authorised to work on high-pressure systems transporting flammable substances within DSEAR / ATEX legal requirements and company standards.
Complete maintenance, testing and adjustments on mechanical systems including equipment covered by the Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR) and critical to Process Safety Management considering COMAH Regulations.
Attain and maintain competency as an authorised person to work on mechanical systems including responsibility to produce and implement mechanical isolations.
Complete and supervise maintenance, fault finding and repair on all Mechanical Systems within operational sites. Systems include high-pressure pipework, high-pressure multi-stage pumps, PSSR equipment, bulk storage tanks, actuation systems, oily water separation / treatment systems, fiscal metering, level gauging, security.
Complete fault finding on EC&I systems within competency limits including 24/7 breakdown response.
Operating Authority responsibilities under the company Permit to work system including supervision of colleagues and contractors in safe systems of work, including preparation of risk assessments, work procedures, issuing mechanical isolation certificates and gas test certificates This includes working with 3rd party site operator systems as required to obtain necessary work permits. This includes deputising as Operating Authority when required.
Act as focal point for engineering projects having an input into all stages of the project plan ensuring works are planned and completed with due regard to requirements for safety and operations.
Work to planned maintenance and inspection procedures and schedules, using the maintenance management system including the upkeep of plant history files.
Supervise works in proximity to buried cross country pipelines in accordance with established working procedures.
Provide operational support as required by the company in response to emergency situations including dealing with emergency services and statutory bodies.
Participate with company working groups and committees as required.
Source suppliers, obtain quotes, agreement of Terms and conditions, raise orders for goods and services required for maintenance and inspection responsibilities in accordance with the company purchasing system.
Undertake work on assigned projects and fulfil other objectives related to operational equipment and sites within timescales agreed with Line Manager.
Undertake functional and personal development training.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- A recognised professional qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline to NVQ level 3 or equivalent standard or extensive demonstrable experience in lieu of this.
- Awareness of fundamental Health and Safety practices in the workplace.
- Experience of maintenance, Root cause fault analysis and ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency situations including dealing with emergency services and statutory bodies.
- Full Driving Licence.
- Numerate, good command of English language both written and oral.

Basic Salary: £30,000 - £35,000, depending on skills and experience.
Standby Allowance: £1,092 per annum (currently based on a 1-in-8 standby rota).
