Electrical Controls Engineer


This Electrical Controls Engineer encompasses the comprehensive design and deployment of electrical and control systems, demanding a candidate with extensive experience in the field and at the design desk.

The Electrical Controls Engineer will be highly knowledgeable about regulatory requirements and responsible for compiling the technical documentation for each project to certify CE compliance. Expertise in the design and testing of safety systems is essential. Given the tight project timelines, precision is crucial, making thorough supplier qualification and management vital to ensure that any outsourced work or components are delivered without rework.

Electrical Controls Engineer - Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration: Work with/as technical lead, mechanical engineers and other stakeholders on overall specifications and integration requirements.
  • Product Development: Create new or improve current sub-system module designs.
  • Automation Design: Create concepts for industrial automation, select suppliers, and create mechanical and electrical integration specifications (when necessary).
  • Electrical Design: Responsible for entire system electrical design with integration of specialist sub-systems. Produce drawings and supporting documentation.
  • Standards and Regulatory Compliance: Identify the applicable standards and regulations, compile documentation for and assess CE compliance.
  • Electrical Assembly: provide standards, instruction and supervision to build team engineers and outsourced suppliers.
  • Safety System Design and Testing: Contribute to risk assessment. Design the safety system and system test procedure. Test the system and create a test report.
  • Documentation: contribute to system manuals.
  • Supplier Qualification and Management: Identify criteria by which suppliers are selected. Assess and rate suppliers and products. Audit suppliers during the execution of orders to ensure specifications, schedules and budget is met.
  • PLC Systems: Design and write PLC programs for automation control or manage outsourced PLC contractors (when necessary)

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical engineering.
  • 8 years of field experience, building and testing machinery and control systems.
  • 8 years of electrical design experience.
  • Full knowledge and understanding of applicable directives and standards.
  • Safety system design, programming and testing (PILZ preferred).
  • Full knowledge and understanding of electrical test procedures.
  • High level of quality in documentation.
  • Capability to innovate to improve the efficiency of processes and designs
  • Team player with good communication skills



Remuneration: up to £50,000 to £60,000 per annum depending on experience working

Hours: Monday – Friday: 09:00am -17:00pm
