Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be supporting a world leading manufacturer in their search for an Engineering Director to establish and deliver the overall engineering and maintenance strategy for their Herefordshire based plant.The operation is a major UK production facility for the Group and the Engineering Director will have total accountability for the plant's engineering strategy, including staffing, equipment, budgets, facilities, maintenance, capabilities and skillsets to ensure the plant is able to deliver it's targets, including safety, quality, throughput and cost. Functions of the role:

  • Responsible for achieving the agreed levels of overall plant availability and performance (OEE)
  • Responsible for delivering cultural change within the Engineering function at all levels to ensure that it aligns to the Plant Goals and fully supports the Plant on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Implement a structure within Engineering that meets the needs of the Plant and review this on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and the Senior Leadership Team to produce and deliver Capital Expenditure Plan which meets the strategic requirements of the business on time and in budget.
  • Agree and establish a set of Key Performance Indicators to monitor and review the engineering functions performance and efficiency.
  • Must deliver measurable improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the Engineering team.
  • Responsible for ensuring Planned Predictive Maintenance (PPM) schedules are achieved.
  • In conjunction with PPM, is responsible for Condition Monitoring to reduce cost associated with secondary damage and unnecessary maintenance and increase machine availability.

Experience and Qualifications needed:

  • Extensive experience of overall responsibility for an Engineering function within a heavy/capital-intensive industry 
  • Experience of budgetary responsibility of £2m+
  • Have held full functional responsibility for engineering within a relevant business/industry
  • Development and delivery of a comprehensive maintenance plan (TPM)
  • Strong practical engineering understanding
  • Evidence of having demonstrated creativity and success in seeking improvements in performance and operational methods.
  • Management and delivery of capital projects
