Job Title: Social Worker – Children in Care
Location: Hereford
Salary: £35,235 – £39,513 (plus £5,000 market rate supplement per year £40,235 - £44,513)
Welcome payment: £5,000 after 6 months completion in post
Flexible working: flexi-time, job-share, part-time hours and, in some instances, home working
Contract Type: Permanent
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our client in supporting children in care. This role involves ensuring the safety, well-being, and personal development of children and young people, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of children in care, providing individualized support and intervention.
- Develop, review, and implement care plans that prioritize the best interests of the child.
- Work closely with foster carers, families, and professionals to create a stable and supportive setting.
- Conduct regular home visits and assessments to ensure children’s safety and well-being.
- Act as an advocate for children in care, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
- Prepare reports and attend court proceedings when necessary.
- Support children through key transitions, including changes in placement, education, and preparing for independence.
- Maintain accurate records in compliance with legal and policy frameworks.
Requirements:
- A recognized Social Work qualification (e.g., degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW).
- Registration with HCPC and SWE
- Experience working with children in care, looked-after children, or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and applicable legislation.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency teams.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle may be required.
