Senior Service Charge Accountant. OUR CLIENT is well known and successful SME real estate consultancy operating in the most desired London areas for a few decades. Now they have a new position for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Service Charge Accountant to join their team with opportunity in the future to take more responsibilities including managing / leading junior colleagues.

THE ROLE: The duties for the Senior Service Charge Accountant:

  • Preparing the service charge financial and management accounting reports and including budget vs actuals.
  • Ensuring the service charge accounts ledgers are maintained to a high standard.
  • Identifying, calculating and entering accruals, prepayment and adjustment journals.
  • Performing variance analysis.
  • Calculating the billing and reconcile non budgeted utility and insurance re-charges.
  • Ensuring supplier accounts are reconciled.
  • Working with the Property Managers to set annual service charge budgets.
  • Setting up new buildings and reconciling new buildings data.
  • Liaising with external accountants to see the accounts through the certification / audit.
  • Assisting the service charge accounts administrators and taking over more technical queries and tasks.

THE PERSON and SKILLS REQUIREMENTS for the Service Charge Accountant role:

  • Excellent double-entry bookkeeping skills are essential.
  • Must have a proven track record of producing year-end service charge accounts ideally for residential portfolio.
  • Will be tech savvy and have experience of using a property system
  • Capable of preparing the regular reporting requirements of property managers and clients.
  • Skilled at checking, documenting and amending accounting ledgers to see them through their external certification / audit process.
  • Motivated, able to and willing to take more responsibility.
