Job Title:Team Leader
Reports to:Nursery Manager / Assistant Nursery Manager
Accountable to:Production Manager
Salary:32k - 34k
Hours:8am to 4:30pm + overtime when required

Job Summary:

The Team Leader will oversee a team, ensuring efficient operations and supporting management in planning and executing nursery processes to achieve Company objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate staff to meet goals and objectives efficiently.
  • Assist in planning and executing nursery operations within your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure all plant maintenance operations are completed to maintain crop health.
  • Regularly monitor crops for pest, disease, quality, and watering issues, reporting promptly to the manager.
  • Assist in collating and preparing customer orders with attention to quality and customer specifications.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of plants for orders and stock.
  • Accurately record stock movements using both manual and computerised systems.
  • Promote and contribute to a culture of excellent customer service.
  • Take responsibility for personal development and participate in staff reviews.
  • Ensure Health and Safety procedures are followed within the team, and contribute to risk assessments.
  • Support other tasks as needed, within your capabilities.

General Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Managers to ensure team tasks are completed effectively.
  • Oversee daily Health & Safety compliance for team members, including temporary staff.
  • Ensure stock is grown and maintained to the highest standards, following integrated crop management principles.
  • Assist with plant selection and packing for both nursery beds and customer orders.
  • Manage unwanted or returned stock promptly to maintain quality.
  • Apply plant protection products as per company programmes, following Health & Safety guidelines.
  • Plan and manage plant arrivals and their distribution around the nursery.

Additional point:

  • Provide out-of-hours cover on a rota basis for plant care, especially irrigation and plant protection.
  • MUST HAVE A PA1 AND PA6 QUALIFICATION AND/OR EXPEREINCE
