We are recruiting for a Payroller to join a thriving finance and administration team at a multi-site retail business, supporting payroll operations across weekly and monthly schedules.

The Role

As a Payroller, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance for all employees on both a weekly and monthly payroll. Reporting to the Financial Accountant and Payroll Manager, you will manage end-to-end payroll processes, address queries, and maintain accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Submit accurate returns to HMRC and manage statutory deductions such as pensions, tax, and national insurance.
  • Monitor and calculate payments for SMP, SSP, SAP, bonuses, holiday pay, and dividends.
  • Prepare BACS runs and raise cheques where necessary.
  • Support year-end audits and provide data for National Statistics forms.
  • Maintain payroll/HR records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Answer employee queries and liaise with HMRC as required.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proficiency in payroll processes, with familiarity in basic payroll legislation.
  • Excellent numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work accurately to deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work on your own initiative.
