£70,000 - £75,000 + Car Allowance  

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic Head of Transport to join a well-established logistics business, leading the management of a dedicated road transport fleet and freight forwarding operations across the UK.

This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day transport activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving operational efficiency, and managing customer performance and profitability. With multiple sites and a team of Transport and Operations Managers, this position is key to ensuring smooth operations and strong customer relationships.

The Candidate;

  • Proven experience in a senior transport or logistics leadership role
  • CPC Transport Management qualification
  • In-depth knowledge of transport legislation and compliance
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of P&L management
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience managing managers and large teams
  • Strong understanding of operational performance, cost control, and service delivery
  • Experience in onboarding new customers and leading operational transitions
  • Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management abilities
  • Sound knowledge of transport legislation and regulations, with the ability to ensure compliance across the department
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets and driving cost efficiencies
  • High personal energy level and commitment

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Maintain full compliance with Operator Licence requirements and driver regulations
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams across multiple transport sites
  • Manage customer P&Ls, ensuring profitable and efficient operations
  • Oversee contract adherence, performance KPIs, and service delivery standards
  • Support the seamless onboarding of new clients, ensuring all operational needs are met
  • Ensure operations run efficiently and align with all contractual obligations
  • Monitor and manage risks related to compliance, costs, and service performance
  • Managing relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Providing leadership, guidance and support to the transport team to promote a positive and productive work environment
  • Ensuring all vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with regular servicing and repairs carried out as required
