An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic Head of Transport to join a well-established logistics business, leading the management of a dedicated road transport fleet and freight forwarding operations across the UK.
This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day transport activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving operational efficiency, and managing customer performance and profitability. With multiple sites and a team of Transport and Operations Managers, this position is key to ensuring smooth operations and strong customer relationships.

The Candidate;
- Proven experience in a senior transport or logistics leadership role
- CPC Transport Management qualification
- In-depth knowledge of transport legislation and compliance
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of P&L management
- Excellent leadership skills with experience managing managers and large teams
- Strong understanding of operational performance, cost control, and service delivery
- Experience in onboarding new customers and leading operational transitions
- Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management abilities
- Sound knowledge of transport legislation and regulations, with the ability to ensure compliance across the department
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets and driving cost efficiencies
- High personal energy level and commitment
Duties and Responsibilities;
- Maintain full compliance with Operator Licence requirements and driver regulations
- Lead and develop high-performing teams across multiple transport sites
- Manage customer P&Ls, ensuring profitable and efficient operations
- Oversee contract adherence, performance KPIs, and service delivery standards
- Support the seamless onboarding of new clients, ensuring all operational needs are met
- Ensure operations run efficiently and align with all contractual obligations
- Monitor and manage risks related to compliance, costs, and service performance
- Managing relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration
- Providing leadership, guidance and support to the transport team to promote a positive and productive work environment
- Ensuring all vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with regular servicing and repairs carried out as required
