Our client are undergoing an exciting phase of growth and are currently looking for an Interim Technical Manager to join their business supporting a number of projects. Ā As Technical Manager, you will be responsible for developing the product portfolio for the business, this will be a balance of product modifications and NPI activity. You will lead a small team of designers as well as interact with the broader engineering functions affiliated with production processes. As part of your work, you will take the lead in ensuring design compliance with legislation and maintain up to date knowledge as required.The Technical Manager will be joining an established department of a growing company helping to add structure and process to their operations.Technical Manager role & responsibilities:
  • Leading the engineering department in the creation of new designs using 3D CAD tools to support New Product Development programmes.
  • Modifying existing designs
  • Support the technical department with design verification information and compilation of product specification sheets
  • Development of production drawings and bills of materials accurately and promptly including BOMā€™s for new designs to enable effective procurement and material management.
  • Liaise with sales / commercial to develop appropriate design briefs and support large proposal activity.
  • Supporting Production with new initiatives requiring design support, for example jig design
  • Support the development of ā€œbest practiceā€ in the department, working to streamline processes.
  • Develop KPIā€™s and personal performance plans for team
  • Liaising with customers or commercial as required with regards to drawings and approvals
Ideal for the role if you have:
  • Experience in a Technical Design role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with 3D Design software
  • Previous experience managing design teams
  • Understanding of design against specifications
  • Passionate about creative problem solving.
  • A background in assembly, Fabrication, Modular, Caravan, Windows & Doors, Holiday Home, Construction or mechanical industries would be advantageous.
