Job description

Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Salary:£45,000+ per annum (negotiable based on experience)

Hours:Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Job Purpose:We are seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead and serve as the technical expert on all Environmental Health & Safety matters. This role ensures compliance with EHS legislation and company standards while driving continuous improvement and fostering a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of EHS policies, processes, and guidelines.
  • Ensure legal compliance with EHS regulations, including ISO 14001 and 45001.
  • Conduct and update risk assessments (COSHH, manual handling) and manage PPE allocation.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; follow up on corrective actions.
  • Train employees on EHS requirements and deliver toolbox talks.
  • Collaborate with external bodies during investigations and audits.
  • Produce regular EHS KPI reports and support the budgeting process.
  • Manage environmental impacts, driving sustainability efforts and ensuring legal compliance with packaging and environmental permits.
  • Support occupational health initiatives and return-to-work processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NEBOSH certification required.
  • 5+ years of experience in H&S within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK EHS law, ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.
  • Environmental policy development and deployment experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience working across Europe and familiarity with Ecovadis and compliance portals.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or within teams.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, and able to influence and collaborate effectively.

Additional Requirements:

  • Hands-on, willing to work across all levels including shop floor tasks.
  • Ability to travel as required.
