We have a fantastic opportunity for a Qualified Electrician for Rochdale Council, this is a full-time temporary role for the next 3 months with the possibility of extension

What is the role?

Rochdale Council are looking for a Qualified Electrician, to join the Managed Property Services (MPS) Team, As they are looking for a Qualified Electrician to be part of a reactive and planned maintenance team providing a high quality building maintenance service to the customers of Rochdale Borough Council. You will be required to carry out various electrical installations and repairs, within set timescales, to a manner that demonstrates a high regard for customer care, and a high standard of workmanship, efficiency and compliance with customer / contract requirements. 

What are your responsibilities?

  • Ensure all electrical works undertaken including installation, repairs, diagnostic fault finding and testing, are carried out in a proper manner and in accordance with the required standards and legislation.
  • Undertake Electrical Installation Condition Reports on a variety of premises to ensure statutory compliance for the council, using electronic software to produce the relevant certification.
  • To undertake works on a variety of control systems, not inclusive of, but including fire alarm systems, data/comms, BMS, intruder alarms, CCTV, door access, and addressable lighting installations.
  • To undertake the servicing and repairs on various mechanical installations such as fan convectors and heating systems.
  • To undertake the testing, and repairs, of emergency lighting systems on both conventional and addressable systems.
  • To undertake works on green technologies and renewable energy sources.
  • To undertake continual professional development.
  • To carry out reactive and planned works throughout the Borough of Rochdale, in both a domestic and commercial setting, on a wide variety of building types and premises.
  • Occasionally undertake works in potentially higher risk environments and properties.
  • Carry out works in association with the councils Home Improvement Agency (HIA).
  • To undertake any additional tasks that are within the remit, and/or skillset, of the existing role.
  • To undertake the pre - measurement of jobs, for the purpose of ordering materials, and assisting Team Leaders with quotations.
  • Work with the MPS team leaders to ensure a high-quality service is provided at all times.
  • Be able to work on an individual basis, using own initiative and with minimal supervision, following the councils lone working procedures.

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have recent experience of working as a Qualified Electrician,
  • Must be physically fit and healthy, as you will be working outside and may need to lift heavy items.
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public, other members of staff and managers.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • You must have gained relevant vocational qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds Electrical Theory Parts 1 & 2,NVQ L3, City & Guilds 2391 Testing & Inspection, 18th Edition Wiring Regs, or their equivalent qualifications) in this area of expertise, and be able to demonstrate a vast work experience across the trade.
  • Full knowledge of all health and safety legislations
