Are you a skilled Science Technician with a passion for supporting science education? A secondary school in Heywood, Rochdale, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Science Technician for maternity cover. This full-time position is set to start ASAP and will run until July 2025.

Position Details:

  • Location: Heywood, Rochdale
  • Pay: Up to £110 per day (based on experience)
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time

About the Role: As the Science Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of the science department. Your responsibilities will include preparing and organising practical experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring that all activities comply with health and safety standards, including COSHH regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science lessons and experiments.
  • Maintain and organize lab equipment and ensure all resources are stored safely.
  • Support teaching staff by assisting in practical demonstrations and lessons as needed.
  • Follow COSHH regulations and uphold strict health and safety standards in all laboratory practices.
  • Monitor stock levels and order supplies when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Full training in COSHH regulations is essential.
  • Previous experience working as a Science Technician or in a similar role within a school or laboratory setting.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with teaching staff and students.
