Job description:

We are looking for a BioChemistry Technician to join us in our Biochemistry team at our laboratory in High Wycombe. To excel in this role, you'll need to be an enthusiastic and agile individual with a solid theoretical understanding of Biochemistry. This role requires someone who is able to question and ask 'why', has good laboratory practical skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.

As our next Chemistry Technician, you'll be driving improvements in allergens testing and will be instrumental in ensuring that raw materials and products meet specification and comply with the agreed standards. For this role, we're keen to bring in someone who is able to champion fresh ideas and work efficiently with a team of four. This role would really suit a person who has good organisational skills and is capable of leading a team of Chemistry Technicians responsible for performing allergens testing on finished food products, including Elisa & PCR Testing.

The Key Requirements...

Food Safety & Quality Management:

  • Log samples, collect data, make measurements, and take action following the set guidelines.
  • Carry out ELISA and PCR based allergen testing, operating all relevant equipment.
  • Relates own tasks to the delivery of Premier Foods Quality Management goals.

Compliance:

  • Perform required measurements and interpret findings.
  • Carry out activities in accordance with internally approved protocols and ISO17025 accreditation.

Product & Raw Material Expertise:

  • Sample and test raw materials to determine appropriate functionality.
  • Undertake development projects under the supervision of the line / project manager.
  • Use analytical techniques to analyse raw materials, finished products and report against agreed standard.

Innovation:

  • Perform tasks required to test and trial ideas.

Data and Knowledge Management:

  • Gather, consolidate, analyse, and report data effectively using IT packages where applicable.

As a member of our Chemistry team, you are equipped with a solid theoretical understanding of Biochemistry and enthusiastic about your work. You possess excellent interpersonal skills for teamwork and good organisational skills. You would thrive on challenges and enjoy finding solutions to complex problems.
