Job Summary:
The Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry will provide expert psychiatric care to adults with a broad spectrum of mental health conditions. The role involves the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The consultant will play a crucial role in leading the multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality care, and contributing to the development and improvement of psychiatric services.
Experience:
- Extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of general adult psychiatric disorders.
- Proven ability to manage complex cases and make sound clinical decisions.
- Experience in working within a multidisciplinary team and leading clinical services.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong clinical skills in psychiatry, including psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with patients, families, and colleagues effectively.
- Leadership and management skills, with a commitment to improving service delivery.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work effectively under pressure.
Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of psychiatric conditions affecting adults, including the latest treatment modalities and guidelines.
- Familiarity with the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.
- Awareness of current trends and developments in general adult psychiatry.

Qualifications:
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
- MRCPsych (Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists) or equivalent qualification.
- CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in General Adult Psychiatry or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice.
