We are recruiting for a skilled part-time Bookkeeper for a Hitchin based Accountancy Practice.

The successful applicant will be a team player with a strong attention to detail - ideally with experience of working in a practice environment.

The working hours are 20 - 25 hours per week - all office based.

These hours can be worked can be flexible either 3 full days or 4/5 hours daily.

The main purpose of the role is to handle the clients and organisations financial transactions by overseeing, recording and facilitating incoming and outgoing payments plus other general bookkeeping tasks.

Bookkeeper - Job Responsibilities:

  • Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data onto the accountancy software and databases.
  • Preparing financial statements showing business income and expenditure.
  • Paying invoices and tracking bank balances.
  • Completing VAT returns
  • Verifying the accuracy of business accounts.
  • Recording any inconsistencies to assist with reconciliations
  • Developing monthly financial statements - including cash flow, profit and loss and balance sheets.
  • Manage company payroll and employee expenses.
  • Ad hoc administrative duties and preparing yearly accounts.

Bookkeeper - Person Specification:

  • Skilled and experienced bookkeeping skills are essential.
  • Ideally previous experience working in an accountancy practice.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong IT literacy.
  • Respectful team player and highly organised.
