Team Leader - Children's Residential Care

Job Title: Team Leader - Children’s Residential CareLocation: [Hoddesdon]Salary: £14.00 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated Team Leader to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operations of a children’s residential home. This role involves leading and developing a team to ensure high-quality care and support for children and young people, in line with Ofsted standards and Children’s Home Regulations. You will act as a role model, coaching staff and ensuring young people receive the best possible care and opportunities for personal growth.

• Assist in the management and development of the home and staff.
• Ensure compliance with Children’s Home Regulations and Ofsted’s quality standards.
• Support young people’s personal development, well-being, and transition into adulthood.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Support Workers, ensuring high performance and adherence to best practices.
• Oversee the creation and implementation of placement plans and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans.
• Promote young people’s engagement in social, recreational, and community activities.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, and homely environment for children and young people.
• Liaise with families, professionals, and external agencies to coordinate care and support.
• Ensure effective health & safety measures and risk assessments are in place.
• Support in external meetings and reviews, ensuring young people’s progress is well documented and communicated.

• Experience working in children’s residential care or a similar setting.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team management skills.
• Knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations, safeguarding procedures, and Ofsted standards.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties as required.
• A relevant Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) (or willingness to work towards it).
• Enhanced DBS clearance required.
