We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual who is passionate about supporting the smooth running of science laboratories and ensuring students thrive in their practical lessons.
As a Science Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of the science department, providing invaluable assistance to both teachers and students. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in science and laboratory work, who is looking to contribute to the success of young people in education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, organise, and maintain equipment and materials for practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
- Assist teaching staff with the setting up and dismantling of laboratory equipment for experiments
- Ensure that health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to, including the proper handling and disposal of chemicals
- Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues promptly
- Support students during practical sessions, ensuring they have the necessary materials and understand safety protocols
- Maintain an organised inventory of laboratory equipment and chemicals
- Contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the science department as a whole
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school or laboratory environment
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and health and safety regulations
- A proactive and organised approach to work
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A passion for science and education
