Our client, who are a UK leading manufacturer are recruiting for a Production Supervisor to join their operation near Alton on a fixed night shift basis.
As a key managerial figure reporting to the Production Manager, you will take ownership of the effective and safe operation of the Production department during your shift. You will oversee high-speed, multi-labor and automated lines in a 24/7 operation, ensuring the smooth execution of Production schedules. Your leadership will be crucial in managing health and safety, quality, compliance, and production output, driving continuous improvements in safety, quality standards, cost-efficiency, and target achievement. You will work to defined processes, product specifications, and MHRA standards within a fully regulated, auditable industry. Additionally, you will mentor and train production staff to deliver outstanding performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Ownership: Lead all Production operations during your shift, including managing supporting departments and being the senior point of contact for site matters during off-hours.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to Health and Safety at Work and HSE regulations, ensuring a safety-first culture through Work Instructions (WIs) and safe work practices.
- Quality Management: Collaborate with the Quality team to investigate and resolve quality issues. Lead the investigation and root cause analysis of Internal Reports (IR), ensuring corrective actions are implemented to eliminate recurring problems. Achieve and exceed a 98% Right-First-Time (RFT) target by addressing faults and implementing sustainable Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs). Ensure strict adherence to packing specifications, WIs, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- GMP Compliance: Ensure continuous adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), maintaining or exceeding a 95% score on unannounced audits.
- Operational Performance: Provide leadership to ensure high operational standards across all equipment. Work closely with Engineering to prioritize production planning and enable effective preventative maintenance through coordination with the Facilities and Maintenance teams.
- Supply Chain Collaboration: Collaborate with Supply Chain Management to ensure on-time production schedules, achieve target delivery outputs, and manage stock accountability through the production process, with an emphasis on reducing waste and maintaining RFT/OTIF targets of 97%.
- Team Development: Coach, mentor, and develop your production team to ensure the achievement of quality standards and target outputs. Implement succession planning and work closely with the Training Department to maintain a production profile training target of over 95%.
- Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and limitations, working cross-departmentally to resolve issues and enhance operational efficiency. Use Gemba Solutions and engage production teams in implementing continuous improvements.
- Escalation and Communication: Escalate major issues following established processes and collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Planning, Warehouse, and Manufacturing departments to minimize delays and eliminate non-value-added activities.
- Inventory and Waste Management: Ensure accurate stock and waste accountability using Real-Time Stock (RTS) transactions and closely manage the completion of production work orders with technical operators. Maintain accurate documentation (ALCOA) and effectively communicate information as needed.
- Crewing and Scheduling: Manage the crewing of production lines to meet product standards and weekly targets.
- People Management: Foster strong relationships with the team through regular performance discussions (PDRs), absence management, and accountability, working closely with HR to ensure staff compliance with policies.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive experience in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) production environment.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing complex, multi-cultural, manual, and automated production environments with a fluctuating workload.
- Knowledge of process improvement, continuous improvement, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Understanding of Health and Safety at Work (HASAW), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), and other regulatory standards.
- Experience with QMS, investigations, root cause analysis, IR, CAPAs, and RFT targets.
- Proficient in computer systems for data management and analysis. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
Hours:
2 week rotating shift pattern covering 7 days per week working 7 shifts over the course of the fortnight.
9.45pm - 10am
Salary of 41,891.99 including shift enhancement
