Our prestigious, Hook-based client, is recruiting for an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to assist them with the management of the purchase ledger and ordering function.  Reporting to the Head of Finance, your proven, strong experience will assist you with this busy and varied role.  What will the Finance Assistant role involve?

  • Managing the purchase ledger, including placing orders, recording the receipt of goods and services, checking for accuracy against original order and managing creditor reports.
  • Reconciliation of supplier accounts and working with the Head of Finance where issues require resolution.
  • Preparing payment runs and related files. Bank payments, credit card reconciliations and petty cash management.
  • Accurate processing of information in line with financial regulations.  Ensuring that the financial and booking elements are correctly costed, organised and billed.
  • Dealing with enquiries from suppliers, developing good working relationships with them.  Processing invoices from suppliers, matching with purchase orders and ensuring correct approvals have been met.

Suitable Candidate for the Finance Assistant vacancy:

  • AAT Level 2 is desirable, with a good knowledge of accounting software including robust IT skills.
  • Strong Purchase Ledger & Procurement knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. GCSE grade A*-C in Maths and English, or equivalent qualification.
  • Highly numerate and a logical and methodical approach to their work.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and good organisational skills, able to deal with complexity and a wide variety of tasks.
