SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR / QUANTITY SURVEYOR

A fantastic opportunity has opened up for a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor to join a client-side team. This position involves engaging in the complete project lifecycle, from early feasibility to major live projects in a fast paced and complex environment.

Role Overview:

  • Reporting to:Commercial Manager

  • Team:Construction & Infrastructure

  • Project Scope:Larger projects, £20M+

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing detailed budgets and cost estimates at various project stages, from initial design to final construction, including internal costs.

  • Monitoring project expenditures to prevent budget overruns and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

  • Performing precise measurements, rate analyses, and risk assessments.

  • Continuously updating cost plans to account for design changes and market fluctuations.

  • Working closely with project stakeholders to ensure projects stay within budget and provide maximum value.

  • Assisting in the formulation of effective procurement strategies and conducting procurement processes.

  • Managing contracts for design and construction phases, including overseeing changes.

  • Providing accurate reports on spending, projected final costs, and forecasting future expenditures through project completion.

Qualifications and Skills:

The challenging environment of client-focused projects demands a flexible and adaptable mindset, strong problem-solving abilities, and an innovative perspective. From project inception to completion, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will collaborate with various stakeholders. Additional requirements include:

  • Proven experience in cost engineering, contract management, or a commercial role within the construction or infrastructure sectors, particularly on projects exceeding £5 million.

  • Ideally MRICS or equivalent with considerable client side / consultancy experience - main contracting Quantity Surveyors with extensive NEC contract experience would also be considered.

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, construction, or a related field.

  • In-depth knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts and associated contract management and negotiation.
