We are excited to offer the opportunity for an inspirational and innovative Head of Food Technology to join our team from the Summer term 2025, or sooner if possible (September '25 applicants will also be considered). This role involves leading the Food Technology department, which is taught across key stages 3 and 4, and managing Food Technicians within the Sport and Nutrition faculty.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Lead the strategic planning and delivery of high-quality teaching and learning in Food Technology.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and enrichment opportunities to secure positive outcomes for all students.
  • Manage and support the Food Technicians, ensuring effective deployment and utilisation of resources.
  • Collaborate with senior colleagues to enhance the curriculum and maintain the highest standards of education.
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities, contributing to the academy's ethos of "Opening minds, raising expectations, transforming lives."
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A good honours degree in a relevant discipline and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • At least two years of successful teaching experience at secondary level, including GCSE.
  • Proven track record of achieving good or better outcomes for all students.
  • Experience in leading a team or department is desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills, able to inspire and motivate staff and students.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic planning abilities.
  • Strong IT and data management skills.
