A plastic injection moulding and tooling business offering a complete tooling service to a diverse customer base spanning many industries, is seeking an injection moulding Setter/Technician Shift Manager to join their extensive production moulding facility.

As the senior person on site for the evening shift, the successful applicant will be accountable for all operations relating to the management of the Moulding Division, including people, production issue resolution, problem solving and driving efficiencies.

As a Shift Manager, your duties will include -

  • Effective Management of the Production Team (Moulding and Packing - circa 15 direct reports), optimising production and ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently
  • Using defined documentation, set up production works orders across all moulding machines, adhering to schedules, with a focus on quality, efficiency and a 'right first time' approach
  • Monitor, control and assign work in priority order, regularly reviewing and maintaining performance measures; cycle times / cavitation / lot size / downtime codes / shift performance KPI's & setter activity levels
  • Physical hanging and setting of mould tools (press range from 22 - 280 tonne)
  • Conducting regular quality checks on moulded products, identifying and addressing any defects or issues in a timely manner
  • Completion of quality and shift hand over documents as required

To be successful in the role of Shift Manager, the ideal candidate will -

  • Have several years' experience as an injection moulding setter / technician and be capable of performing tool changes and setting machines
  • Ideally have a recognised injection moulding qualification (IMT 4 highly desirable)
  • Ideally have proven team leadership, people and performance management experience - although a strong Setter/Technician ready to step up in to a Leadership role can also be considered
  • Be organised and methodical, able to delegate tasks whilst focusing on staff welfare
