Learning Support Assistant

A dedicated school for children aged 7-19 years, based in Horsham, who have special educational challenges, are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their team of highly experienced professionals.

The school has a deep focus on addressing the educational, social and therapeutic needs of students, focusing on individual happiness and well-being where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Working as directed by the Classroom Teachers and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Understand how a pupil's learning is affected by their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development and understand the stages of child development.
  • Make effective and efficient use of ICT for classroom and management support.
  • Provide support and encouragement to children and young people.
  • Challenge and motivate pupils, promote and reinforce self-esteem.
  • Participate in the marking of pupils' work and accurately record achievement/progress.
  • Encourage children to value their experiences and knowledge.
  • Be familiar and keep up to date with the school's systems and structures as outlined in policy documents including Health and Safety and Child Protection policies.
  • Be familiar and up to date with SEN Code of Practice.

Requirements of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Impose patience and understanding.
  • Always be adaptable in any give situation.
  • Be able to develop strong and positive relationships with children.
  • Committed to working as part of a team.

Preffered Experience:

  • SEN: 1 year

Enhanced DBS needed.
