Freightserve are looking to recruit a Customs Clearance and ETSF Operations Supervisor. The role is working for a fast growing Freight Forwarder based in the Heathrow area.

Oversee daily operations of Customs Clearance/ETSF facility and Coordinate activities in the Imports and warehouse in accordance with UK Customs/HMRC regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported products. Provide proactive documentation service to internal and external customers.

Main Responsibility:

  • To Manage Customs clearance team and ETSF warehouse.
  • Dealing with general enquiries from clients/customer concerning all areas relating to Customs Procedures ie Tariff Classifications, Duty Rates, ETSF operations, NCTS and any other documentation requirements.
  • Processing Import/Export declarations (Home Use/CFSP/NCTS/Permanent Export).
  • Work closely with CSP provider, Custom software and HMRC for the existing and the new process setups.
  • Prepare and review process flow/training manual for team to improve their experience and customs clearance skills.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and Customs procedures.
  • Calculating Duty/VAT cost for consignments.
  • Answering HMRC Declaration queries as and when they arise.
  • Providing basic customs clearance training to new operatives.
  • Monitoring employee productivity on a day-to-day basis.
  • Regularly drive high level of operational integrity and compliance with the audit process.
  • Ensure the Shed compliance as per the requirement
  • Manage ETSF warehouse and day to day operations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Full knowledge of customs procedures and principles.
  • Background within customs clearance, ETSF and import/export is essential
  • Full knowledge of Airline Cargo operations, sheds customs badges.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work on own initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and develop strong working relationships.
  • Good analytical and excellent organizational skills
  • Develop & coach team members and assist with new employee onboarding.
  • Participate in new business implementation meetings as a subject matter expert and/or ensure SOPs are updated when needed.
  • Promote a positive working relationship for all team members.
  • Act as a key customer contact and subject matter expert.
  • Lead by example when it comes to customer outreach, retention, and expansion.
  • Work effectively in a team environment and collaborate cross-functionally, building relationships with account management by proposing process improvement and/or consultative leads.
  • Streamline in-house processes.
  • Help to continue to build a team-oriented atmosphere.
  • An understanding for the need for confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook).
