About the Role:

As the Primary Music Teacher, you will play a central role in nurturing the musical talents of our students and fostering a love for music throughout the school. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality music lessons across all primary key stages. Your role will also involve leading extracurricular music activities, including school performances, concerts, and choirs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering Music Lessons: Plan and teach engaging music lessons that cater to the needs and interests of all students, from EYFS through to Key Stage 2.
  • Developing Musical Skills: Help students develop their musical skills, including singing, playing instruments, composition, and understanding music theory.
  • Fostering Creativity: Encourage creativity and self-expression through music, providing opportunities for students to explore different genres, styles, and cultures.
  • Leading School Performances: Organise and direct school concerts, assemblies, and musical performances, showcasing the talents of students.
  • Supporting Extra-Curricular Activities: Lead and support after-school music clubs, choirs, and other musical initiatives that enhance the musical life of the school.
  • Assessing Progress: Regularly assess and monitor students' progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential in music.
  • Collaborating with Staff: Work closely with other subject teachers and school leaders to integrate music across the curriculum and support cross-curricular initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have a qualified teacher status (QTS) or be a qualified music teacher with experience in teaching music at primary level.
  • Possess a deep passion for music and the ability to inspire students to develop their musical abilities.
  • Be skilled in a range of musical instruments (e.g., piano, guitar, drums, etc.) and have a strong understanding of music theory.
  • Have experience with leading school performances, choirs, and music-related extracurricular activities.
