Overview

Working directly for the Managing Director, The Sales Manager will oversee a team of two: an external sales employee based in South Gloucestershire and an internal sales employee located at the Huddersfield head office. Sales are mostly within the UK, with some overseas projects.

The Sales Manager role covers all new project sales, with responsibilities including understanding customer requirements, machine selection, layout advice, and identifying hazards.

For the first 12 months -> you will also manage the Northern Area to accelerate your product and industry sector training. After successful completion, you will recruit a new Sales Engineer for the Northern Area, allowing you to fully focus on the Sales Manager role.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Managing sales engineers.
  • Worked on complex engineering projects.
  • Project/System Sales Experience --->Experienced in selling complex, customised solutions for large-scale projects, particularly in engineering and manufacturing sectors., which can typically take 6 to 12 months to come to order. This includes both project sales, where specific customer requirements are met, and system sales, which involve delivering complete solutions made up of multiple integrated components.
  • Understanding of technical and engineering requirements.
  • Mechanical engineering qualification (HND/HNC or higher).

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Managing the Sales Team:

  • Lead and support the sales team - currently 1 external sales, 1 internal sales.
  • Ensure the department operates effectively to meet both company and departmental objectives.
  • Make sure that the order is suitable for all parties involved.

Driving Sales and Project Management:

  • Secure orders aligned with the company’s technical capabilities and pricing structures.
  • Maintain and grow customer relationships while identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Lead the full sales cycle for projects, from understanding customer requirements to preparing quotations and securing contracts.
  • Conduct site visits to provide solutions, recommendations, and necessary surveys.
  • Ensure products meet or exceed customer specifications.

Business Development and Strategy:

  • Identify and secure framework contracts aligned with the company’s expertise.
  • Promote the company’s profile and products within the industry.
  • Develop strategies to expand into new markets and increase sales of existing products.
  • Conduct regular sales meetings to review market conditions and drive actions.
  • Report sales forecasts and updates to the Managing Director.

Client Relationships and Support:

  • Build long-term relationships with clients to encourage repeat business.
  • Provide after-sales support to ensure customer satisfaction.

Project Sales Expertise:

  • Lead project sales efforts, understanding client needs, and providing tailored solutions, including machine selection, layout advice, and installation requirements.
  • Apply engineering calculations, manufacturing methods, and project-specific sales techniques.

Travel and Representation:

  • Regular travel throughout the UK to meet clients and pursue sales opportunities.
  • Occasional overseas travel and participation in exhibitions as needed.
