Finance and Collection Officer

  • Contract Type: Temporary, Full-time
  • Salary: £12.59 PAYE (Umbrella rate available)

Join our Client Financial Affairs team as a Finance and Collection Officer. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing and updating electronic customer records, handling financial transactions, and communicating directly with customers to assist with their financial needs in accordance with legal requirements and council policies.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Update and input new information into electronic customer records using a range of IT packages, ensuring compliance with legal standards and council procedures.
  • Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound telephone calls, assisting customers with inquiries and financial transactions.
  • Review online claim forms to determine customer eligibility for financial assistance for social care charges.
  • Manage the administration of council revenue and financial records, including raising invoices, generating standard letters, and checking payments.
  • Collect income and gather financial and payment information from customers for adult social care services.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer interactions and financial transactions.
  • Work in a deadline-driven environment, efficiently managing multiple tasks and adapting to varying team needs with full support.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Understanding of adult social care legislation and charging policies.
  • Proficiency in data entry with a strong focus on accuracy and meeting targets.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to organize workloads to meet deadlines and targets efficiently.
  • Experience in raising invoices and numerical literacy.
  • Proven background in administration within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service experience, with a history of public interaction.
