Employer description:We are a Managed Service Provider, providing a vast range of services and products both internally and to our clients. This can range from assisting a user on a single machine to entire infrastructure support, growth, and project work (and everything in between!).

We are an accredited Cyber Essentials Plus Certified Body as well as IASME Assured (previously known as Governance/Gold) Certified Body.

Overview:As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will join our growing team with its increased focus and business growth in Cyber Security, working closely with our Cyber Security Manager ensuring the smooth and successful delivery of all security-based client requests, services, audits and certifications in a continually evolving role. 

You will be responsible for providing advice, assist and take action on security matters to our clients and internal colleagues as well as working on Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus assessments and all other services within our Security portfolio. Customer service is a priority, as such you will enjoy the interaction and building rapport with our existing, varied customer base.

What you’ll be doing:Duties include:

  • Liaising with customer to understand client requests and how best resolve issues
  • Supporting project implementations from initial customer training through to ongoing support
  • Working on Cyber Essentials & IASME Assured assessments
  • Working on Cyber Essentials Plus & IASME Assured (Audited) audits
  • Carrying out Internal Vulnerability Scanning (including customising reporting)
  • Carrying out External Penetration Testing (including customising reporting)
  • Using enterprise level tools to analyse and assess vulnerabilities
  • Assist with the evolving product and services portfolio available to clients
  • Assisting the sales and support teams with relevant information and advice, taking ownership where required 

About you:Skills required:

  • Good understanding of networks and basic infrastructure

Desirable:

  • Knowledge on the Cyber Essentials scheme
  • Good networking knowledge (routing, IP’s, topology etc)

Personal qualities:

  • Organised with good problem-solving skills
  • Good timekeeping and attention to detail
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills key
  • An interest in technology and troubleshooting
  • Capable of thinking outside the box

Driver: Please Note - Being able to drive is preferred but not essential as long as you are within an hour commute. 

Entry requirements:

  • An A-Level in ICT
  • OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT
  • OR a Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. 

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
