  • Plan appropriate, effective, differentiated, and inclusive learning programmes through schemes of work that promote equality and engage with diversity
  • Plan teaching sessions using learning outcomes found in modules’ specifications and accommodate individualised learning using a variety of resources and methods including digital learning techniques
  • Ensure all learning materials are updated and available on the VLE for students to access and engage with
  • Apply the principles of learning to provide learning activities to meet curriculum requirements and the needs of all students
  • Select the relevant learning approaches and skill development to ensure students’ progress
  • Contribute to the provision of a stimulating learning environment whilst adhering to the Centres’ Health and Safety and safeguarding procedures
  • Apply the theories and principles of assessment including initial, diagnostic, timely formative and summative assessment
  • Maintain continuous, up-to-date and accurate records of student attendance and progress
  • Contribute to student progress reports in a clear, accurate manner using constructive language
  • Strive for students to achieve and attain high standards
  • Act as progress coach and carry out duties associated with this role
  • Refer students for learning support where appropriate
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the well-being of students in your care. Refer to support services where appropriate
  • Contribute to effective communication with stakeholders e.g. parents, sponsors, University and others as appropriate
  • Undertake reflection and self-evaluation of personal teaching practice and continuing professional development
  • Comply with expectations of all professional conduct regulations
  • Use student feedback to improve personal performance
  • Work as part of the Engineering, Science and Computing Team to produce and develop an exciting curriculum for students
  • Be prepared to operate on a flexible basis to meet the needs of the Engineering Team and the Centre as a whole
  • Be available to cover lessons for absent colleagues as required
  • Attend Department, Centre and Network Organised Events and meetings in accordance with provided schedules
  • Other related activities as may be reasonably requested by the Centre Director, Deputy Director of Curriculum and Progression, or Head of Department.

ABOUT YOU

  • A Cert Ed, PCET or PGCE teaching qualification (working towards, or willing to achieve)
  • Qualified to Degree level or professional equivalent in a relevant subject area
  • Desirable Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at level 3 and 4
  • Successful teaching, learning and assessment experience at level 6 is desirable.
  • Thorough subject knowledge in Maths and Engineering - specifically Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering and ability to teach these subjects
  • Experience in teaching International Students
  • Experience in providing additional academic support to students
  • Experience in developing learning and teaching through digital learning platforms
