Autism Support Assistant (College Level - 16-19 years)

Autism Specialist School - Huddersfield

NextGen Teachers are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a Specialist Autism School in Huddersfield who are looking for an Autism Support Assistant to work with students in Key Stage 5 aged 16-19 years (College level).

The students in this class are on the Autistic spectrum with some students who are completing qualification to go onto work and supported living. In this role you will be supporting the Independence of these students and will be supporting with life skills and out in the community.

This is a full-time position starting ideally as soon as possible and will be for a temporary to permanent contract with the school working Monday - Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm during term time with 13 weeks of holiday per year.

The process for this school would be a registration and vetting checks through NextGen Teachers, a full trial day/interview and then a job offer in the new couple of weeks.

This school is just a 15 minute walk from the Huddersfield Train station and for drivers there is a secure car park at the school.

This school is keen to support aspiring individuals who are looking for career progression.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have a minimum of a Level 3 Qualification
  • Have experience working with young people (secondary age) with complex needs
  • Experience working with people with Autism
  • Have experience with changing and personal care
  • Have a passion to support children with additional needs
  • Have full-time availability
  • Have a DBS on the update service or, willingness to complete one
