Central to our success is our ability to keep our vehicles moving on time and to schedule, and it is to this end, that we are looking to appoint a Transport Planner.
Working as part of a team in a busy department you will primarily be responsible for the supervision and planning of drivers and subcontractors, utilising the companys systems for the planning of workloads and schedules. Other duties will include the compilation of the necessary records and completion of administration tasks associated with the transport operation.
Essential for the role will be a proven track record of working in a busy and just in time environment, routing drivers and equipment with a good knowledge of the intermodal transport industry. The right candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, geographical knowledge as well as being aware of current transport legislation.
Knowledge of computerised systems particularly Microsoft windows package is essential.
Hours of Work:Monday to Friday 0700-1530h / 0800-1630h or 0900-1730h

Requirements:
Essential :The successful candidate will
- be able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and organisational skills.
- have worked previously within a similar planning role or transport environment
- have a good working knowledge of UK geography
- have strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build working relationships both with internal and external departments or suppliers
- be able to work to individual and team deadlines
- be proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office packages
- live within a commutable distance (45 minutes)
- be able to work as part of team and on own initiative.
Desirable : The successful candidate will :
- hold a CPC licence or other transport industry qualifications
- possess an understanding of drivers hours regulations
- have worked within the bulk liquid transport industry
- have knowledge of transportation of hazardous goods
