Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to recruiting for a leading manufacturing business in Hull as they look to recruit a Management Accountant into the team. The business is going from strength to strength and has grown by more than 30% over the last 3 years to now have a turnover of circa £50 Million and remain profitable. This is a full-time site-based role (HU9), reporting to the Financial Controller and will be varied and challenging role offering good business partnering opportunities with operations as well other business areas. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and management of the monthly Management Accounts (including P&L, Fixed Assets Register, Capex Review, balance sheet reconciliations), ensuring timely and accurate data
  • Preparation of monthly reporting pack, together with a review of month end results
  • Understand the business cycle of the relevant departments in terms of what and how it is being produced and what is sold which would include regular visits to the plant to recognise the impact of production methods on the figures
  • Ensure the accuracy of standard costing systems, including a minimum annual review of the product standards involving liaising with production colleagues to ensure that product costing reflect the reality of what is happening on the factory floor
  • Conducting thorough cost-based analysis including labour, overheads, wastage and other production KPIs
  • Business partnering with production managers as well as other operational management to control budgets and assess business performance
  • Performing detailed analysis on any variances and reporting data to senior management teams
  • Ensure product codes and business reporting structure is at a required level to properly and fairly report the business area’s gross margins
  • Provide finance support to the allocated business areas including weekly review of costs with the operations team and review of product profitability
  • Weekly critical review of flash forecast estimates made by the allocated business area to ensure that they have been produced on a reasonable basis
  • Review and challenge accuracy of forecasting
  • Supporting the budgeting process
  • Provide support on preparation of capex proposals, ensuring that the financial justification has been prepared on an appropriate basis and can be substantiated
  • Maintain the fixed assets register as required including posting of depreciation and addition of new capital projects
  • Continuous identification when improvements can be made within the finance department, enhancing analysis and information for decision making and further developments in line with business strategy

Ideally you will have the following skills and experiences:-

  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA Qualified or will be working towards this within the very near future.
  • Advanced Excel skills; ability to analyse and interpret critical information
  • Strong organisational & effective communication skills
  • Keen eye for detail, able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Exposure to MRP/ERP systems would be advantageous
  • Experience in manufacturing would be highly desirable although not essential
