Principal Civil and Structural Engineer

Jackson Hogg are delighted to be supporting a leading engineering consultancy in the appointment of a Principal Civil and Structural Engineer based in Hull. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the delivery of defined engineering tasks for minor modifications and projects to the highest standards, complying with legal obligations and client requirements. The role also involves supporting development of proposals for business opportunities, deputy line management of team responsibilities and provision of consultancy services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise for the civil and structural design, specification, procurement support, installation and commissioning of engineering systems for the structural and civil department.
  • Be conversant and comply with UK Legislation and company rules and procedures to appropriate procedural and system updates.
  • Produce design assurance for the civil and structural discipline.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to projects and team.
  • Make decisions on technical issues, budget considerations, project schedules and health and safety with minimal supervision.
  • When required, act as 'LeadEngineer' for appropriate projects in line with work scope.
  • Carry out discipline audits ensuring full compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Delivering on time in full for responsible scope.
  • Support business winning including capability presentations, generation of execution strategies and cost estimates.
  • Support roll out of engineering procedures, work instruction and standards and guidance documents.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering
  • Extensive experience working as a civil and structural engineer, specifically working on projects through their full life cycle including preFEEDS, FEEDs and EPC phases within the chemicals, petrochemicals, oil and gas, and power generation industries.
  • Experienced in working to the latest BS & Eurocode design standards
  • Proficient in the use of licensed design software, such as STAAD, Tekla Designer and S-Frame
  • Understand project control processes and management of budget and scope changes
  • Experience working within the procurement life-cycle including specification, enquiry & post order support (equipment and subcontracts).
  • Experience leading a team.
  • 37.5 hours per week - flexible working hours + 2pm finish on a Friday
