Job Title: Shift Multi-Skilled Maintenance EngineerLocation: HullSalary: £46,000  per annumShift Pattern: Panama shift which involves working 12 hour days and nights on a 3 on 3off and 2 on 2off pattern  Our client a leading Food Manufacturing business are looking for an experienced M/S Maintenance Engineer to join their team and support the maintenance and smooth operation of our production facility. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring safety, quality, and production efficiency.Job PurposeYou will be responsible for maintaining and improving plant machinery and equipment by performing both proactive and reactive maintenance. Your role will involve supporting operational efficiency, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.Key Responsibilities
  • Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance: Perform routine and reactive maintenance to meet equipment specifications and operational requirements.
  • Proactive Line Support: Work closely with shift managers to assist with machinery setup and operations at the start of shifts.
  • Breakdown Response: Act swiftly to diagnose and repair breakdowns, reducing downtime and ensuring smooth production flow.
  • Asset Management: Maintain and inspect equipment to ensure optimal performance and long-term reliability.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work with cross-functional teams to address safety or quality concerns and recommend improvements.
  • Data-Driven Analysis: Analyse equipment failures and breakdowns to identify patterns and implement corrective actions.
  • Contractor Supervision: Manage and oversee external contractors working on site, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability and overall efficiency.
  • Project Involvement: Assist in engineering and improvement projects, providing technical insights and hands-on support.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately document maintenance activities, breakdowns, and repairs to ensure clear communication across teams.
  • Fire Safety Support: Assist with the maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment.
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: Background in a manufacturing/factory based Maintenance environment, preferably within FMCG or Food
  • Skills:
  •  Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex systems.
  •  Experience in both reactive and preventive maintenance, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  •  Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in a manufacturing setting.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work on a shift-based schedule.
