Logistics Manager

Multiple Sites (Hull, Aberdeen & Pembroke)

60k per annum

Full Time Permanent Role

As the Logistics Manager and O Licence Holder, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of a fleet of 12 trucks, warehouse operations, and property maintenance across the three UK sites, each holding individual Operator Licences. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing driver, fleet and warehouse compliance, property maintenance management, and ensuring adherence to regulations such as ADR, COSHH, and DGSA, as well as HACCP and ISO standards. Additionally, you will act as the Company Health and Safety Officer

Key Responsibilities:


Fleet and Warehouse Compliance:


o Ensure compliance with all UK and EU transport and warehouse regulations.
o Maintain accurate records and documentation for Operator Licences and HACCP plan adherence across all sites
o Monitor compliance with vehicle load weights, ADR small load exemptions and CCP temperatures for chilled and frozen items.
o Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with VOSA standards and ISO requirements.
o Manage dispatch paperwork to accurately reflect compliance records with the above requirements.


Fleet and Property Maintenance:


o Review fleet composition to ensure it aligns with business needs and industry standards.
o Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules for all vehicles and property facilities.
o Monitor Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules with maintenance providers to minimize downtime and extend lifespan of both vehicles and property assets.
o Manage relationships with service providers and ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed to a high standard meeting our SLAs.
o Carry out minor defect rectifications on vehicles to ensure roadworthiness.
o Negotiate and maintain fuel deals to optimize costs while maintaining operational efficiency


Warehouse Operations:


o Oversee and optimize warehouse operations, including inventory management, logistics, and shipping/receiving procedures.
o Oversee stock management systems to maintain accurate inventory levels and minimize discrepancies
o Ensure warehouse operations meet high standards of stock accuracy and COSHH compliance.
o Implement and maintain adherence to the HACCP plan to ensure food safety and compliance.
o Develop strategies to enhance operational efficiency and productivity within the warehouse.


Driver and Warehouse Team Management:


o Monitor and manage driver hours to ensure compliance with Working Time Directive and tachograph regulations.
o Plan and allocate driver and warehouse team schedules efficiently to meet operational demands and legal requirements.
o Conduct training for drivers and warehouse staff to ensure all team members maintain relevant qualifications and compliance with safety standards.


Health, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance:


o Act as the site Health and Safety Officer, ensuring a safe working environment across all operations.
o Ensure adherence to regulations such as ADR (European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road), DGSA (Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor), HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), ISO standards, and other relevant health and safety regulations.
o Conduct regular risk assessments and implement control measures to maintain safety standards.
o Maintain up-to-date safety training for all company employees


Operational and Strategic Management:


o Report directly to the CEO, providing regular updates.
o Provide weekly KPI reports to the Executive Team covering compliance metrics, operational efficiency, and safety performance.
o Manage the budget for the logistics department to ensure cost-effective operations.
o Utilize transport and warehouse management systems (TMS/WMS) to optimize operations.
o Continuously evaluate and implement new KPIs to improve operational performance and compliance.


Leadership and Team Management:


o Lead and motivate warehouse, transport and administration teams to achieve operational excellence.
o Foster a culture of compliance, safety, and continuous improvement within the logistics and warehouse departments.


ISO Compliance:


o Ensure all operations comply with ISO standards relevant to the logistics and transportation industry.
o Lead ISO certification processes and ensure continuous compliance through regular internal reviews and updates to procedures.


Qualifications and Skills:


* Mandatory:
o Valid Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
o Experience as an O Licence Holder with a proven track record of compliance.
o Experience in logistics and transport management, preferably within a multi-site operation.
o Strong knowledge of UK and EU regulations related to transport, warehousing, and property management.


* Preferred:
o Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
o NEBOSH qualification (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health).
o Certification as a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA).
o Knowledge and experience with HACCP and ISO standards.
o Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
o Excellent communication abilities and proficiency in using management systems (TMS, WMS).
o Basic mechanical skills for vehicle maintenance tasks.
