Headley Professional Recruitment is currently recruiting a Buyer for our client in Hull. The client is a construction main contractor who work on new build and refurbishment projects between 200k and 10 million in value. Projects can be across a number of sectors including commercial, education, health, residential and leisure.

The Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established contractor with a strong reputation. Working alongside two existing Buyers and reporting to the Commercial Director. You will be working closely with the commercial team. Managing the company's supply of products and services. The Buyers responsibilities include finding cost-effective deals and suppliers. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, enthusiastic, and motivated.

  • Responsible for the procurement of materials to service project requirements, demonstrating value for money through competitive tendering and pricing analysis to minimise risk and maximise commercial opportunity
  • Identifying suppliers and sub-contractors, obtaining quotations, and agreeing delivery timescales
  • Liaising effectively with the site management team and suppliers & sub-contractors to manage the flow of labour & materials appropriately
  • Liaising closely with the commercial team at the tendering stage to ensure that an accurate project cost is provided
  • Approval of purchase invoices for payment

Requirements:

  • Previous buying experience in a similar role gained within the construction sector
  • Procurement qualification desirable but not essential
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent time keeping and ability to manage own workload and work to deadlines
  • Ideal candidate will be friendly, proactive, have good organisational skills and good attention to detail
