GSL Education is currently seeking to appoint a qualified and enthusiastic SEN Teaching assistant to undertake a position at one of our client SEN schools in Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire.

 Job Summary: SEN Teaching Assistant working with students with special educational needs and mental health needs in SEN schools play a vital role in creating inclusive and supportive learning environments, promoting the well-being and academic success of all students.

Role of a Teaching Assistance:

  • SEN Teaching assistant provides tailored support to students with special educational needs and mental health concerns. They work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement strategies outlined in education, health, and care plans.
  • SEN Teaching assistants offer emotional support to students with mental health needs, helping them manage emotions, develop coping strategies, and build resilience.
  • In situations where students experience mental health crises or emotional distress, TAs may provide immediate support and assistance.
  • SEN Teaching assistant in ongoing professional development to enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting students with special educational needs and mental health concerns.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working as a Teaching assistance within a Secondary SEN school educational        setting.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience when working with students facing academic or behavioral challenges.
  • Hold relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or a related field.
