My clientis one of theleading planned maintenance andaffordable housing refurbishment contractors in the South of the UK.

They are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Advisorto work our of their Hungerford Office.

My client is specifically seeking candidates with experience inRoofing / Social Housing Planned Maintenance works.

Job Summary

The Health and Safety Advisor will provide expert advice, guidance, and support to ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations in social housing construction projects.

This role involves site inspections, training, and implementing policies to promote a culture of safety while ensuring operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Develop risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe systems of work.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.

Policy Implementation

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure subcontractors and staff adhere to company and legislative health and safety standards.

Training and Communication

  • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and health and safety training sessions to employees and subcontractors.
  • Communicate health and safety updates to the site team and management.

Audits and Reporting

  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits to maintain certifications (e.g., ISO 45001).
  • Prepare and present detailed health and safety performance reports to management.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Membership of a recognized safety body (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM).
  • Relevant qualifications in health and safety for construction or social housing.

Experience

  • Proven experience in a health and safety advisory role within construction or social housing.
  • Knowledge of construction regulations, including CDM, asbestos awareness, and working at heights.
  • Experience managing health and safety audits and investigations.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise reports.
  • Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office and health and safety management software.
