Robert Half are pleased to partner with a scaling SME business in Cambridgeshire looking to recruit a Bookkeeper to join the finance team in a varied role. The successful applicant will report directly into the Finance Manager and be responsible maintaining and improving the processes across the finance function as well as assist with ad-hoc project work in line with the needs of the business.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Daily bank reconciliations.
  • Weekly issue the Debtor report and record onto the system
  • Monthly reconciliations of company credit card statements.
  • Support the monthly supplier payment procedure to ensure it is carried out promptly and accurately.
  • Produce and update supplier turnover and credit limits report.
  • Produce monthly Control Accounts (Wages, Prepayments, Accruals, Fixed Assets, Depreciation).
  • Posting of monthly Accruals, Prepayments and other adjusting journals.
    • Variance analysis and supporting commentary.
  • Quarterly VAT returns.
  • Maintenance of daily and monthly cashflow forecast.
  • Maintain fixed asset register and HP journal entries.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts which includes Trial Balance, Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet.
  • Report budget analysis and variances to department managers.
  • Payroll:
    • Preparation for monthly Payroll, collating data and entering onto system. Includes calculation of all amendments, additions (shift and overtime) and deductions, SSP, SMP payments.
    • Generate summary reports, obtain approval, make payments to staff.
    • Processing payroll including payments to HMRC, pension/ manage payslips.
    • Produce NI, PAYE year end returns.
  • Carry out the day to day Bookkeeping of two opco's companies.
  • Assist in the production of quarterly Profit & Loss accounts.
  • Assist in the production of Quarterly VAT returns.
  • Resolve queries with customers, suppliers and colleagues in a timely fashion.

Role Requirements

  • Sage 200/50 experience ideal but not essential
  • HMRC Tax and VAT reporting
  • Payroll experience
  • MRP / ERP / Manufacturing business preferred but not essential
  • Sales invoice
  • Experience assisting with monthly management reports
