Department: SalesJob Title: Sales Team LeaderReports to: Managing DirectorLiaison with: All departments within organisation GroupPosition Overview:The Sales Team Leader is responsible for driving the identification and development of sales opportunities, as well as providing support in estimating quotations by leveraging the technical knowledge and expertise of the wider team.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example, offering consistent guidance, feedback, and support to motivate and drive high performance within the sales team.
  • Manage personal and team workloads, delegating tasks and authority as required to ensure smooth departmental operations.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to establish both departmental and individual sales and gross margin targets.
  • Design and implement sales strategies to meet business growth objectives in terms of turnover and profit, both from new and existing customers.
  • Partner with the Managing Director to define and adjust pricing strategies.
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline to capitalise on business opportunities.
  • Enhance team capabilities by ensuring adherence to company policies and processes.
  • Coordinate and lead monthly sales meetings and weekly team briefings to ensure alignment.
  • Provide expert technical support on the full range of products to customers.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Utilise internal systems and processes effectively, such as the Enquiries inbox, EasyBOP CRM, HR, Sales Ledger, and the preparation and follow-up of quotes.
  • Leverage databases (e.g., Glenigan) to identify new project and customer opportunities.
  • Delegate tasks efficiently across the sales team and broader department for maximum productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure the accurate preparation of customer quotations to optimise pricing and margins.
  • Manage price negotiations and the sales process with key target customers.
  • Identify and report new product or market opportunities to the Managing Director.
  • Regularly report on progress against business plans and sales targets.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to provide completed project images.
  • Gather and analyse customer feedback.

Expectations:

  • Achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets in line with the business plan and budget.
  • Proactively follow up with potential clients and existing inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Provide valuable feedback on potential product developments, new products/services, and market trends to the Managing Director.

Decision-Making Authority:

  • Issue quotations and variations up to £25k without approval.
  • Issue quotations and variations exceeding £25k with Managing Director approval.
  • Approve purchase orders up to the value of £5k.
  • Implement all company policies with HR's support.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven track record in a proactive, customer-focused sales or estimating role.
  • Outgoing personality with a strong ability to build and maintain relationships with customers over the phone.
  • Proactive with the ability to set, monitor, and adjust workloads independently.
  • Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Results-driven, with experience in consistently meeting and surpassing KPIs.
  • Ability to multitask in a busy environment while maintaining focus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong numerical and commercial acumen.
  • Previous experience working successfully within a team and supporting colleagues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous experience in the glazing, construction, or a related industry is highly desirable.
